Earlier times where joint families were a tradition, all of the chacha, chachi, tau, tai, bhua, fufa their kids used to live in a single house. If they were rich enough to afford they would construct a bungalow for the entire members to live in with rooms for everyone and separate rooms for every children. That’s the style of living at earlier times. What if families did not have enough money to construct homes as per the members in the family? They live in a small sized apartment and more than fifteen to sixteen people living in the apartment while going through the hassles of cooking food for that many members three times a day and then the commotion among the members to adjust themselves during the sleeping arrangement. What about if the family earning member at times cannot arrange money for the food, then most of the times they end up sleeping hungry. Undoubtedly the cost per person the living arrangement is huge. Even a newborn has its own set of expenses from the diaper to the baby food, to the expenses of the gynaecologist. If a newborn can have just a small set of expenses the moment he/she grows they will have increased expenses. From the education fee to a new a pair of clothes to transportation cost to the expenses of eatable items. Due to limited knowledge of population control, a family used to contain almost like five boys and five girls which used to only add up to the pressure.

Expenses are now not just related to Food, Shelter and Clothes, but they have increased in the list of necessary items. Food, Shelter and Clothes are just not enough to suffice the desires of the public there are items like the furnitures required to set home, then comes the need to enhance the home, like the mattresses, cushions, curtains amongst others. Not simply restricting oneself to clothes but accessorizing the clothes with jewelleries, watches, broach and others. Then comes to need to enhance the style of living, by commuting through expensive mode of transport, visiting clubs for socializing, visiting restaurants to keep up with the good times spend with family and children, then comes the need for vacation. That is why in time, the tradition of keeping up with joint families has gradually vanished and the modern families are now approaching to live on a single family basis which includes the papa and the mummy and their children. Now that the papa is the sole earning members of the family and to keep up with the maintaining the living standards of three to four or even five is not inconvenient.Keeping up with the modern times, the Mummies too have begun to stand up for their own individuality and have begun working in offices and setting up their own ventures. This in a way enhances the standard of living and there is no hassle involved in working way too hard as compared to the earlier times which  also comes with an additional benefit of smart living lifestyle.
